The Screenplay

RACHAEL
You’ve always been so good to me.

The intensity in Rachael’s tone and her stare changes.

RACHAEL (CONT’D)
You're the one I haven't been able to stop thinking about, Jessie. You are the one I'm crying over. I'm so sorry you went away. I hate that you left. Did you even think about me while you were in Iraq?

JESSIE
(coy)
Of course I thought of you, Rae. I missed all of you while I was away. I felt lost without my friends.

Jessie pulls away..., sensing a drunkenness from Rachael.

JESSIE (CONT’D)
(stands)
Maybe it’s time for us to go in? We’re all so tired..., it’s been a long day.

She extends a hand to Rachael and pulls her out of the water. Jessie grabs a towel and wraps Rachael’s body before kissing her on the forehead. She grabs another towel for herself, wraps in it and goes to a nearby lounge chair where she lays on her back and looks up at the stars. Rachael dries herself then walks over to Jessie.

RACHAEL
I worried about you a lot while you were gone. I can’t imagine how bad it must have been over there..., especially as a woman.

Rachael delicately climbs on top of Jessie and lays across her. Spreading the towel over them, they lay together on the lounge chair. Jessie embraces her.

We see the stars in the dark sky. We hear
the crash of waves in the distance.
